Huffington Post informed its readers about the apology MSNBC anchor Martin Bashir delivered after his disgusting, dirty slam on Sarah Palin:
"Martin Bashir apologized on Monday for his recent comments about Sarah Palin.
On Friday, he reacted to Palin's remarks about slavery by describing a punishment for slaves, which called for leaving "s--t" in their mouths. Bashir said that Palin "would be the outstanding candidate" for such a punishment. ..."

The comments by the readers were predictable:

Below are a few more comments I've copied from the site. I did not have patience to read further, but you have the idea.

The whiny voiced, no nothing, ex-Governor from Alaska tends to bring the worst out in people. Bashir's effusive apology was a bit much. He should have said something like "my comments were unnecessary" and let it go at that. Palin does not deserve more.

I think his remarks were quite right on. No apology was necessary.

I'm sorry, but I don't accept Martin Bashir's apology. It was not necessary.

An apology for a comment that was nine tenths an edification about the horrendousness of slavery, and one tenth reference to an ignorant right wing zealot engaged in attempts to draw a lame equivalency between the national debt and slavery is simply not needed, or accepted.

If MSNBC forced Mr. Bashir to make this apology, then shame on them. Apologies should offered when something said was inaccurate, not because feathers have been ruffled.

Bashir will never ever again be able to make an authoritative pronouncement on ANY subject after that abject apology. He should have done one of those non-apology apologies, saying something like, "I'm sorry if anyone was offended by my remarks, etc., etc." which put the onus really on the people who were stupid enough to be offended. (Not I. I tthink Palin richly deserves to be called out like that ....)

Martin, I'd bet big money that a LOT of people secretly agree with you. The fact that your legendary manners and decorum dropped for a moment means, I think, that you've been hanging around with Bill Maher too much.

Do you think she would hesitate to say the same about someone she did not agree with? She deserves it.

How could that be a punishment for Palin when that is exactly what she has been spewing at us for the past five years?

I was sorry Bashir saved it for last & it was too brief. I was amused. Last time I saw Sarah she was posing with her prey. A black bear. I know she didn't hunt it for food. What was the point? Without a gun, who would have come out of that contest alive? She's a brain dead coward.

Fox takes a lot of criticism on this tread but I have never witnessed any
one on Fox be this inappropriate towards anybody. You know this is
America, nobody said you have to agree with Palin but she does have
a right to her point of view.
